Karsten Rynearson and Anjo Therattil take home top scorer honors at Princeton’s High School Academic
In a rare event, two players from Connecticut took home top scorer from both divisions of Princeton’s High School Academic Tournament (PHSAT) XXVI on Saturday, September 29th. Freshmen Karsten Rynearson and Anjo Therattil both played solo for Greens Farms Academy and Wilton High School respectively; Rynearson competed in the tournament’s Nationals division, while Therattil competed in the Standard division. 2018 Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT)
Six teams from four Connecticut schools competed at NAQT’s Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT) last weekend. During the preliminary rounds, Greens Farms Academy (Westport) went 7-1, Middlesex A (Darien) went 6-2, Middlesex B went 6-2, and Western (Greenwich) went 5-3 to qualify for the playoffs. Over the months of December, January, and February, Connecticut Quiz Bowl teams have been busy attending tournaments and preparing for the end-of-season State Championship and National tournaments. On October 28th, Hunter College High School hosted its 7th fall novice tournament using the SCOP Novice question set. 8th grader Karsten Rynearson, playing solo for Greens Farms, topped the 28-team field as both the tournament champion and high scorer, defeating Bard A in the finals to win the tournament.
